Woolgathering Australia 2017
4-7 May 2017
Sharing our love of wool and the joy it brings to those who embrace it.
Tarndie is delighted to host the first Woolgathering Australia event, organised by Karen Pior and her team. The 4 day event aims to gather together to laugh and learn with kindred souls and designed to bring together those of us who are passionate about all things wool.
It is a chance to share our enthusiasm and knowledge. It is a chance to learn about new crafts and techniques. It is a chance to meet new people and make new friends. And it is a chance to walk with the sheep that produce the fibre that gives us so much pleasure as we run it through our hands!
Over the four days of the Gathering you will attend 3 classes in various yarn based crafts, view demonstrations by our fabulous teachers, and undertake 2 farm tours. One will give you the history of Tarndie and explain how Polwarth sheep came to be and the other will take you through the paddocks to pat the sheep and learn about sheep farming practices. Daisy, a beautiful four legged gal, will be your very friendly and curious companion! This tour concludes in the shearing shed where you will see and feel and smell the raw fleece!
For detailed information and bookings, visit the Woolgathering site:
Delicious meals and snacks will be supplied and there is the opportunity to purchase coffee and home baked goodies from the Tarndie cafe. Oh, and of course, the occasional glass of something lovely or bubbly as well!
Accommodation is not included in the cost of Wool Gathering – there are many beautiful accommodations options in surrounding towns. The ability to control the final cost of your Wool Gathering is a unique aspect of this retreat.
And just so the fun doesn’t stop, there will be live entertainment, a treasure hunt with great prizes, Tarndie’s Farmgate shop with beautiful things just waiting to tempt you, a Teachers’ Market Place and ample opportunity just to sit with your yarny projects in the bucolic atmosphere and talk and relax with friends. And add to that, free bus transfers to and from Tarndie from Colac and Birregurra so you can relax and let others do the driving.
The cost of Wool Gathering is $625.
