Topic: Saori Weaving

Discover the easy and enjoyable freestyle form of Japanese weaving called SAORI with passionate accredited SAORI teacher, Prue Simmons. Learn basic techniques and play with colour and texture to create a gorgeous scarf, wall hanging or table runner to take home. Find your zen at the loom.

Beginners welcome. Looms are threaded up and all materials, guided tuition and refreshments are provided.  All you need to do is bring along your enthusiasm for this easy, freestyle creativity. 

No previous weaving experience is necessary – you will learn everything you need to know on the day, and start weaving your own piece straight away!

About Prue

This workshop is led by the passionate and inspirational Prue Simmons who runs Dyeing to Weave, a registered global SAORI studio in Central Victoria.

Prue was instantly hooked when she first learnt weaving while living in Japan over 12 years ago, and is one of only three people accredited to teach SAORI in Australia.  Prue is passionate about sharing her knowledge of SAORI weaving and her deep connection to this unique Japanese weaving and philosophy.

  • All weaving equipment and materials including Polwarth wool & tops
  • Guided tuition and assistance at every stage
  • Delicious morning tea 
  • Lunchtime tour of Tarndwarncoort – working wool farm on request
