Food with your fibre

In our world, it’s clear the most important elements to a nice trip away are food and fibre. Good for body and soul right. A nice meal paired with an engaging knitting project in a place that’s not your own. Tick, tick.

So when guests come to stay in our accommodation, we want to make sure food suggestions are at the ready. And the fibre content is well and truly covered with our Woolshop open for accommodation guests staying outside regular hours.

Here’s our food tips for Summer/Autumn 2023:

  • Brae Restaurant world class farm to fork tastebud paradise for the special occasions. Book a cab for the 10mins trip and lean into the full bonaza. Reservations are essential and currently open two months in advance. New dates open on a rolling release, daily at 9am.

  • Seasonal fruits! The Otways are home to pick your own berries, and Tarndie’s own orchard will be ripe for guests to pick in Feb-April. The Otway Harvest Trail Instagram page is a good source of local tastes.

  • Surprisingly good Thai. It’s not always a guarantee in regional parts, but Colac is home to a few delicious offerings (seemingly sticking with a fruity theme!) –try out Mangoes, or Papaya.

  • The Farmers Arms, Beeac. Hits the right note in the symphony of playing to your stengths. Country pub open all the time with solid menu, pool table and juke box. It’s where we locals go!

  • Breakfast done three ways. Guests will enjoy the option to cook the freshest of next doors free-range eggs in the accommodation, or they can head to Otway Artisan Gluten Free Bakery in Birregurra for the best breaky panini and coffee. And thirdly, the chance of a pre-breaky amble along country roads to The Store in Deans Marsh yields a lush menu of local delights.
