Viminalis Blanket Workshop - Session 2

Take a different path towards a distinctly South West Victorian blend of trees, wool, design and skills.

Join Shelley Husband as we take a different approach to the Viminalis Blanket project from her tenth book, Corners and Curves.

As we go, Shelley will teach you all her seamless tricks and little hints how to make your crochet look fabulous. You’ll leave with the confidence to complete the Viminalis Blanket at your own pace.

Make it stand out

In the workshop, you will have the option to use our naturally coloured Polwarth wool - “Manna Gum” - also known by its botanic name Eucalyptus viminalis, the namesake of this blanket project.

NOTE: You will need the Corners and Curves book to make the squares not covered in the workshops.  Different patterns will be used in each workshop, if you want to come for Session 1 to make a whole day of Viminalis fun.

Skills needed:

Can read a pattern or chart. Familiar with most crochet stitches and techniques.

Participants receive:

  • Project instructions, one on one tuition and handouts.

  • 100 grams Tarndwarncoort Polwarth Wool - Manna Gum (or colour of choice) - 14 balls needed to make the entire blanket

  • Afternoon Tea.

What to bring:

  • 6 mm hook -(bring some other hook sizes to try if you have them)

  • scissors & yarn needle

  • crochet stitch markers

About Shelley Husband

Shelley Husband is a designer, author, and serious supporter of making crocheting easy and enjoyable. While Shelley learned crocheting as a child, it took her almost 40 years to crochet her next granny square — and she hasn’t stopped since.

Soon after that square, Shelley realised she had a new design in mind, and then another, and… well, let’s just say, there’s no slowing the new designs that continue to have her granny square community buzzing.

From her first book, Granny Square Flair, winning UK’s Best Crochet Book in 2019, to a total tally of ten books, Shelley enjoys giving her community what they want. Now with an App, online group, and regular workshops across the country, Shelley loves getting the curious hooked on granny squares!

Old and new crocheters fall in love with the way Shelley designs patterns to be practical to grow their crochet confidence, one square at a time.

When Shelley’s not running a retreat, working a workshop, or designing the next book from her hook, she’s enjoying the land she loves and lives on in Gunditjmara Country (also known as Narrawong in Southwest Victoria, Australia).

If you haven’t joined her community already, and you are crochet curious, you’re most welcome to look her up on the socials @spincushions
