Workshop: Beginner Yarn Dyeing (Acid Dyes)

Beginner Dyeing (Acid Dyes)

Learn to enhance your woolcrafting by adding colour in your own style.

This beginners workshop introduces you to principles of using acid (chemical) dyes on non-superwash, natural wool yarn. We look at a range of techniques that produce different styles - semi-solid, variegated, spots, resist, layers - with stovetop, steam and using a bain marie.

Participants create yarns with the Tarndie Beanie pattern as the focus and finish with enough bespoke Polwarth 4ply yarn to create a beanie.

The tutor is Tom Dennis who has been working with Landscapes Dyes on Polwarth wool since 2015 and creates yarns for the Tarndwarncoort woolshop.

$165 - includes tution, morning tea, 4 x 25gm skeins of 4ply yarn, Tarndie Beanie knitting pattern.
