Announcing our Fibre Art Residency
Tarndie is proud to announce a new Residency open for fibre artists to prepare for CrossXpollinatioN 2024.
In partnership with Colac Otway Performing Arts and Cultural Centre (COPACC), we seek to support textile artists and craftspeople to achieve their goals and develop their skills in the immersive wool and textile setting at Tarndwarncoort.
The Residency offers an artist, or an artist pair, 5 days stay in The Farmers Cottage sometime between November 2023 and February 2024. During which time, the successful applicant will have access to the Wheelhouse creative space (the old Wool Room/Garage/Carriage House) and the Dye Studio to work with their own materials to develop an entry to the CrossXpollinatioN Textile and Fibre Art Exhibition.
CrossXpollinatioN will be held 14 June to 15 July, 2024 and encourages collaboration between artists. In the past, this collaboration has lead to pieces where multiple techniques and materials are used in one piece to give added complexity and layers.
The reason Tarndwarncoort has been a supporter of CrossXpollinatioN over the years is that it allows us to provide a way to support fibre artists who often bring new designs and inspiration to craft practices in our community. It also provides a chance to see the evolved state of our region’s fibre products in wool, timber, alpaca in artistic form at the same time as attracting our arts and crafts tribe to visit our backyard.
Applications for the residency are managed through COPACC – closing 22 September 2023. Click here for details and form.
We recognise that it can be intimidating to put your work in an exhibition, particularly when there are associated prizes, so spending a bit of time on retreat at Tarndie to pull together the threads of an idea, or to work on the actual piece could be the thing that gives you a little boost.
Get in touch if you would like to book some time outside the CrossXpollinatioN 2024 Residency to give space to your creativity.
